From around August to October, humpback whales like to join us at Mafia! These huge mammals, previously endangered by commercial whaling, are now recovering fast. More and more visit us each year, and we often see mothers and their (relatively) tiny calves. We can also see dolphins year-round.
We watch the whales from the boat, but do bring a swim suit just in case; we sometimes get to swim with whale sharks on these trips too :).
We can pick you up from your accommodation and drop you back at the end of the trip. We can also provide full snorkelling gear for your day on the water. You just need to bring sun protection, any snacks you’d like to eat on the boat, and your swimming gear if you’d like to get in the water. The boats have shelter from the sun, but they can get a bit wet if people are swimming, so make sure you bring along a suitable bag for any gear that has to stay dry.
